Lee Students to Compete in Annual Dorm Wars
Cleveland, TN (10/08/2026) — Lee University will hold its annual Dorm Wars on Monday, Oct. 19, at 7 p.m. in the Paul Dana Walker Memorial Arena. In addition to competing for the coveted Dorm Wars title, each residence hall team will compete on behalf of a charity of its choice.
"Dorm Wars has a deep connection to the sense of belonging and respect that our current students, and many of the staff/faculty as former students, feel for the places lived in and the people we stand side-by-side with during our time at Lee," said Chris Montgomery, assistant director of residential life. "For many students, the dorm is their first Lee community, and this event is a wonderful display of that brotherhood or sisterhood. Of course, there are some bragging rights involved, but at its heart, Dorm Wars is about strengthening the bonds within our student community."
Residence hall representatives will compete in events designed by Lee's Residential Life and Housing staff. These competitions have been designed to test competitors' energy, skills, strategy, and speed.
In the weeks leading up to this event, students will prepare for the competitive events, choreographing dance routines, and creating props and banners to match their unique theme.
This year's lineup includes team introductions featuring props, choreography and themed costumes, a bubble bash, the annual shopping cart relay, and an obstacle course. A new pre-show video will highlight the history and legacy of Dorm Wars, while Lee staff members will serve as officials and scorekeepers throughout the competition.
Each team has chosen a charity to support, with proceeds from T-shirt sales benefiting organizations including Bradley County SPCA, COG Youth & Discipleship: Youth World Evangelism Action, The Caring Place, COG World Missions, Ocoee Fellowship of Christian Athletes and New Hope Pregnancy Center.
"Dorm Wars is an event that not only gives our students a greater sense of camaraderie, but it allows all of campus to unite together in the spirit of togetherness and competition!" said Oak Cartee, a junior theology major and a resident chaplain.
At the end of the competition, the coveted title of "Dorm Wars Champion" will be awarded to the residents of one female dorm and one male dorm.
Dorm Wars admission is free and open to the public. The event will also be available for livestream viewing at leeu.live.
