Lee University to Present Saxophone Recital Featuring Nathan Keedy
Cleveland, TN (09/23/2026) —
Lee University's School of Music will present Dr. Nathan Keedy, instructor of saxophone, in a faculty recital on Thursday, Oct. 1, at 7:30 p.m. The concert will take place in Squires Recital Hall, located in the Humanities Building on Lee's campus.
The performance will feature pieces by American composers, including "Blue Caprice" by Victor Morosco, "Renewing the Myth" by Marilyn Shrude, "Elements" by Joel Love, and "Come as You Are" by Steven Banks.
"As this recital coincides with the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States, this concert is a celebration of American musical traditions and of the saxophone as an instrument that has contributed significantly to and had its repertoire shaped by those traditions," said Keedy.
Keedy will be joined by Amy Wu on piano during "Renewing the Myth" and "Come as You Are" and by Amy Humberd, assistant professor of clarinet, during "Elements."
"The program speaks to the uniting power of music and how it can bring people from different backgrounds and experiences together through faith, joy, and love," said Keedy.
In addition to teaching at Lee, Keedy is a member of the Carson-Newman University faculty and has held teaching positions at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, and Walters State Community College.
Keedy is an active performer and has given recitals throughout the U.S., including appearances with the Colorado Symphony Orchestra and the Knoxville Wind Symphony, as well as frequent performances with the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra. He has premiered new works for saxophone at the World Saxophone Congress and the Navy Band Saxophone Symposium.
Keedy holds a Doctor of Arts in saxophone performance and pedagogy and a Master of Music in saxophone performance from the University of Northern Colorado, as well as a Bachelor of Music Education from the University of Montana.
The recital is free, non-ticketed, and open to the public.
