Lee University Presidential Concert Series to Welcome Queen's Cartoonists

by Meredith Dufresne

Cleveland, TN (09/15/2026) — Lee University's Presidential Concert Series, presented by Bradley Medical Center, will open its 34th season with a performance by The Queen's Cartoonists, a six-member ensemble known for bringing animated films to life through musicianship, comedy, and synchronized performances. The event will take place on Tuesday, Sept. 29, at 7:30 p.m. in Pangle Hall.

Drawing from more than 100 years of animation from around the world, The Queen's Cartoonists recreate beloved soundtracks note-for-note while blending jazz, classical music, comedy, and animated films. With animated films projected on stage, audiences will see favorite cartoon characters interact with the musicians as the group moves seamlessly from the Golden Age of Animation to cult classics and modern films.

"Music and cartoons are such a natural combination," said Dr. Muen Wei, Presidential Concert Series director and assistant professor of piano at Lee. "There's something immediately fun and engaging about seeing the two come together live. The Queen's Cartoonists bring incredible musicianship to the stage, but they also create an experience that is playful, accessible, and genuinely entertaining. I can't think of a better way to open our season."

The members of The Queen's Cartoonists, all now residing in Queens, New York, originally hail from four continents. The group has performed at a wide variety of venues and events, including opening for the New York Philharmonic, selling out the Blue Note Jazz Club, holding a sold-out residency at Konzerthaus Berlin, and completing an extended run at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. The group has been featured in more than 50 publications and broadcasts, including The Wall Street Journal, Chicago Tribune, Los Angeles Times, San Diego Tribune, Houston Chronicle, NPR's "All Things Considered," Mashable, and BBC Radio 3.

Tickets for the Tuesday evening performance are $15 for adults and $5 for students, seniors, and children. Tickets may be purchased at the Lee University Box Office in the Dixon Center or by calling (423) 614-8343 beginning one week before the event, between 3 and 6 p.m. Online tickets are available now through Eventbrite.

Designated parking will be available, with assistance offered as needed. Additional details will be shared with ticketholders in the days leading up to the event.
