Wang to Continue Lee University 34th Presidential Concert Series
Cleveland, TN (10/16/2026) — Pianist Zitong Wang, a bronze medalist at the 19th International Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition, will perform an all-Chopin program at Lee University on Thursday, Oct. 29, as part of the university's Presidential Concert Series.
The concert, which begins at 7:30 p.m., will be held in Squires Recital Hall in the Humanities Center on Paul Conn Parkway and continues the series' 34th season.
Wang's all-Chopin program will feature Chopin's "Piano Sonata No. 2," the work for which Wang received the Krystian Zimerman Award for Best Performance of a Sonata at the 19th International Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition. The program also includes "Scherzo No. 1," "Andante spianato et Grande Polonaise brillante," a nocturne, mazurkas, and "Variations brillantes."
"We're delighted to welcome Zitong Wang to the Presidential Concert Series," said Dr. Vanessa Wei, director of the series. "She is a wonderfully expressive pianist with a natural sense of color and lyricism, and this all-Chopin program gives audiences a chance to experience many different sides of Chopin's music, from intimate and lyrical works to pieces of tremendous virtuosity and drama. I'm especially excited for our students and community to hear her perform here at Lee."
Wang has performed at renowned venues, including the Berlin Philharmonie, Warsaw Philharmonic, Shanghai Symphony Hall, and National Centre for the Performing Arts, and has appeared with major orchestras, including The Philadelphia Orchestra and The Cleveland Orchestra. A graduate of the Curtis Institute of Music, she is pursuing graduate studies at the New England Conservatory with pianist Dang Thai Son.
The concert is generously supported by Bradley Medical Center.
