Lee University Wind Ensemble to Present Fall Concert

Lee University's Wind Ensemble will present its fall concert on Tuesday, Oct. 6, at 7:30 p.m. in the Conn Center.
The performance will feature "A Festival Prelude" by Alfred Reed, "Children's March" by Percy Grainger, "Shenandoah" by Frank Ticheli, "Second Suite in F" by Gustav Holst, "Deciduous" by Viet Cuong, and "Incantation and Dance" by John Barnes Chance.
Graduate conductors Carrie Snyder and Randy Cantrell will conduct "Shenandoah" and "Second Suite," respectively.
"This program includes a delightful mix of wind band standards and exciting, newer music," said Dr. Joshua Pace, director of the Wind Ensemble. "One piece I'm particularly excited about is 'Deciduous' by Viet Cuong. The New York Times describes this Vietnamese American composer's music as 'wildly inventive,' and we are excited to share his music with our community."
In addition to serving as assistant professor of music education and conductor of Lee's Wind Ensemble, Pace teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in music education and conducting and supervises student teachers. Prior to Lee, Pace was a high school band and orchestra director in Omaha, Nebraska. He earned his doctorate in wind band conducting at the University of Florida.
The Lee University Wind Ensemble is committed to the highest level of performance of instrumental ensemble literature for winds and percussion and performs special concerts on Lee's campus throughout the year.
The concert is free, non-ticketed, and open to the public. Livestream viewing will be available at leeu.live.
